How the hell does this make sense???
This horrible excuse for a human being struck her child in the head – WITH A HAMMER. Then let him die a slow death over the next week. She doesn’t deserve to be called a human, much less a MOTHER.
The husband, “not wanting to get into a confrontation with her”, let this happen – did not seek medical help.
She was tried and convicted of abuse & felony murder and was sentenced on Friday to life without parole.
Why does this woman get to live? Tell me this??????
The husband hasn’t been sentenced yet, but he faces life WITH the possibility of parole.
They adopted this kid after his own parents had abused him. How is this allowed to friggin happen???
And there’s a flap in this country about MADONNA adopting a kid? GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!!
Geez, this makes me mad. The people of this country need to get a grip on their priorities, that’s for sure.

just a note
I hope you all like my new blog layout design as much as I do. I’ve always been a fan of *clean* designs, and so this one caught my eye. The banner up top- is a photo of mine that wordpress graciously allowed me to substitute for the one that came with the template initially. Let me know what you think

transitions
I guess that’s what you’d call my current state… transitional. We’ve gotten past the whole “OMG we’re having another baby!” to “ok, what do we need to do next?” and of course, the whole “oh shit, another delivery” is soon to come.
I’ve been reading with lots of sympathy, my friend melinda’s trials and tribulations as she transitions into motherhood. She’s learning, the hard way, of course, that motherhood isn’t all Carnation commercials. It’s hard, it’s thankless, full of guilt and it’s tiring. Incredibly tiring. Draining emotionally. Yes, the rewards are incredible. But it’s SO HARD to see those rewards at 3am when everyone else in the known world is sleeping except for you and this new little being.

on what planet…
“On what planet does this happen”, my friend angel asked me after she read this article about yet another candidate for Mother of the Year.
“On ours” was my response.
This is such a pathetic waste of a life – this woman, a mother of FOUR, took her 4 week old child and swung him by his legs and hit the child’s father with the BABY, during a drunken arguement. The baby’s father said “She didn’t mean to hurt him… it was an accident”. How is this an accident? How does someone do this?

Weekend recap
The journey to Connecticut for the Connecticut Renaissance Faire this weekend was slow and painful. We started out ok (albeit 2 hrs later than I’d planned), and came to an abrupt halt in Massachussets when we encountered the traffic jam from hell, caused by a truck roll over, etc.
What a pain in the butt! All in all, we wound up spending about 7 hours in the car that day, with a 3 yr old that’s no longer in diapers. I was disappointed in that we missed the rehearsal, which was the whole reason why we went on Friday. Hubby also missed meeting the guy who will decide whether to hire hubby from his temp job to a perm job. Damned traffic.
We were even late to the rehearsal dinner, thanks to mapquest SUCKING EGGS, but we DID make it and got to see my friend & her fiance’, and her kids, as well as briefly meet some of his family. It was an ‘ok’ dinner . . .I wouldn’t go back there again, though.
Anyways, Saturday, we awoke to a fantastic morning. Fall in New England is NOT to be missed, I tell ya. We made an early morning trip to WalMart to pick up some things I’d forgotten and got back in time to see the bride making her final touches and leaving for the Faire. We left soon afterwards, complete with a little princess and a nearly 10 yr old King.
(Did I mention that my daughter refuses to sleep on her own or with her brother again, thus making yet another trip a completely kink-free zone.)
Anyways, the wedding location itself was gorgeous. There were tons of people at the Faire, and so many of them were dressed up in themed clothing. Photos are posted here. The photo above that I’ve included is actually of the wedding tables, and everything was just beautiful. There’s also some more posted on the photos site I’ve listed.
I’ve never been to this kind of a themed wedding, so it was such a treat to be included. There were less than 40 people included in this wedding, making me feel very special. I’ve known the bride for the better part of 8 or 9 years, so I was so pleased to see her take this step and be able to share in this day with her. I’ve thanked her over and over again for including us all.
As I was the photographer for the event, I got to be everywhere. I took all the obligatory family photos, of course, as well as some candids and I think that for the most part, they came out pretty nice!
As they’ve been together for 5 years already, It was also special for me to watch the groom’s face, whom I barely know, and see his eyes NEVER leave my friend. He didn’t look around, he didn’t even look at the officiant. He only had eyes for her. It was so nice to see.
All in all, a very special weekend, even if the traffic sucked. The trip home was much easier, although rainy.
So, thanks again to my friend & her new husband for including us in their very special day. I wish them a lifetime of love & happiness. *smooches them both*
